Yes, both Flexera One and Snow Atlas populate data from a variety of sources including dozens of connectors to third-party inventory solutions, such as BMC ADDM, BMC Bladelogic, BMC Client Management, BMC Discovery, BMC Remedy, BMC Remedyforce, and SCCM, Dell KACE, HCL BigFix, Ivanti, Tanium, etc. and data via XLS, CSV and XML files and AWS Discovery. Where there are gaps, Flexera provides an agent to collect inventory data on all applications running on endpoints and servers. Inventory data is then passed through our normalization and enrichment catalogs.

Snow Atlas provides a connector via our ITSM Enhancer product, which updates third-party CMDBs such as BMC and ServiceNow. The Snow for BMC Helix ITSM connector populates and maintains BMC CMDB from BMC Helix ITSM with information from Snow License Manager or Snow Atlas. It connects the web API and collects information on computers, users, installed software, and relationships. The information is then imported into BMC CMDB via the BMC Helix (Remedy) ITSM connector utilizing the REST-based API web services.

The information collected from Snow License Manager or Snow Atlas can be filtered by data type. Only information for selected data types will be transferred to BMC Helix ITSM. Filterable data types are server, desktop, laptop, applications, most frequent computer user and mobile devices.

The Flexera One solution integrates normalized data from the Flexera One IT Visibility and ITAM products via API. 

By providing license management data to BMC, Flexera enhances a number of ITSM processes, including Capacity, Change, Configuration, Problem, Performance, and Request Management processes. Here are a few of the use cases where the data adds value to ITSM functions:

  • Facilitate the creation of a software product catalog by making a normalized list of software titles available to the CMDB
  • Enhance change management by identifying the machines that are candidates for update when new versions of desktop or server software are released
  • Support software request management by indicating whether the enterprise has a license available to fulfill that request
  • Support capacity/demand management by enabling IT to determine the impact on license position of adding or virtualizing servers or adding processors to a server (‘What If’ Analysis)
